& Happy Birthday, Ben
2009-08-18, 9:48 a.m.
And, on this day he would have turned 49.
He would have been able to see his grandson take his first steps, say his first words and eat his first bite of "people food"
I miss him, and think about him often.
Strange how the death of someone, you never felt close to before, causes you to remember every tiny aspect of the life you led with them.
I remember the tiniest things (all of the time now)
It bewildering, and keeps me in a place of constant sadness.
I'm sorry that you died, Ben.
I'm sorry you didn't get to see Stephen graduate. I'm sorry that you won't get to see Heather and Jamie graduate, either. I'm sorry for the days you have missed.
I'm sorry you'll miss the days when they leave for the Military. They've all decided to join.
I'm deeply saddened that you never got to say "goodbye" and tell them that you loved them.
Happy Birthday.
We all miss you.
